Yakety Yak, Don't Hold Back
The quick version is; we lived on Picea Ct. off Fairview Ave with 2 sisters, 3 brothers and Mom and Dad. I graduated from HHS early and worked at McDonald's and Red Barn in CV for a while. Enlisted in the USN (wanted to work on airplanes) and entered boot camp in June of 71. Went to A school in Memphis, Tenessee and was then assigned to Attack Squadron 25 at NAS Lemoore, Ca, as a hydraulics mechanic. Two WestPac cruises to Vietnam and four years later I was honorably discharged as an AMH2.
Started as a mechanic at United Airlines in SFO a month later in August of 1975. Met my wife Mary (MaryEtta Moore - HHS class of 1974), in 1977 and purchased a home in CV. Married to Mary on 4/1/1988 (33rd anniversary this year). Mary and I started and operated Balloon Fantasies on A Street in Hayward from 1980 to 1990 with my brother Steve (we did the balloons for the 10 year reunion).
First child (Erica) was born in 1981 and we moved to Dublin in 1982. Son Ryan was born in 1985. In 1993 we all relocated to Indianapolis to help start a new United Airlines maintenance base. Worked there 10 years as a Team Leader until the base closed during UA bankruptcy. Hung on in Indy until 2009 working as a Program Manager managing outsourced maintenance. In that year we relocated to Chicago.
Kids are now grown, are college grads and wonderful adults, and are on their own. Mary and I are living in an "Active Adult" community west of Chicago and I'm working downtown Chicago as a Manager in the Component Vendor Management department in my 36th year with United.
I enjoy working on cars and motorcycles and have owned many "vintage" motorcycles. The one I have kept the longest is a 1965 Honda 250 Scrambler just like the one I owned in high school. Mary and I enjoy traveling when we can, riding our Honda Goldwing and exploring the Chicago area on weekends.
We plan to relocate back to California when (and if) we ever retire. We own a home in Pollock Pines we just purchased this year. It's a wonderful life...... Best wishes to everyone and enjoy the reunion!
